Siobhan McFadyen is a news journalist and editor with excellent contacts, digital expertise, PR, creative copy writing and social media skills. I love to travel and have done extensively. I've worked in Africa, Europe, and lived in the Middle East and the USA.
I began my career as a local newspaper reporter, moved to national newspapers and worked as a news and features writer for the Scottish and UK edition of the Daily Mirror. I was promoted to Political Editor and covered the 2005 UK General Election Campaign. During my time at the Mirror, I was sent on assignment around the UK, to New York and Ohio, USA and covered poverty and famine in Malawi on a Ministerial foreign visit.
I spent five years in New York, USA as a freelance correspondent for a number of UK national titles, including The Mail on Sunday, The Daily and Sunday Express, The Sun and The News of the World. I worked as the New York correspondent for Grazia Australia Magazine as well as working on the British edition. During my time in the USA, I covered a vast array of writing assignments including the 2008 elections.
In 2010, I moved to London to join the diary at the Mail on Sunday and to take up the role of Royal Correspondent with Grazia Australia. I covered the 2011 Royal Wedding, the 2012 Olympics and other large scale events. I moved to Dubai, UAE in 2013 and after returning to the UK, I continue to freelance and write profiles for Hedge, the magazine of the London Hedge Fund Club.
As well as news and politics, I've covered a variety of events including the London and Cannes Film Festivals, worked at Paris, New York and London Fashion Weeks and attended sporting events. I am available for commission for print, digital, broadcast and social media projects.
